Task 4 LO1 The global village theory (1964)
Marshall McLuhan wrote a book called "understanding media: the extensions of man"(1964) which suggested that one day we would live in a "global village" due to advancements in technology. It stated that we would one day become interconnected on a global scale and talk to each other across the world.
He theorised that it would lead to a "tribal mentality" in which groups would become disconnected and form different views. This is seen today in the "Twitterati" which control popular topics on Twitter.
